New Morningstar Missionary Baptist Church
The church structures at South State Street and East Jefferson Street were constructed in 1870 and 1903. The buildings were destroyed by fire in 1957 and the present building was occupied and consecrated in 1961. In September 1997, the New Morningstar Missionary Baptist Church, whose congregation was formed in January of that year, moved into this location. The buildings are regularly used for community and educational meetings, and to provide food for the hungry through the church's food pantry.
