Roji uses Hand picked tea leaves.

Therefore you get the best part of the leaf  that's carefully selected

and not something mass- produced which usually has no depth in the tea overall

and relatively less health benefits

All teas regardless if they are Green, Black, Oolong... not including Herbals, all come from one plant called Camellia Sinensis which they grow in humid, rainy, foggy climates in different regions around the world. (Unfortunately, the United States does not have an ideal climate for growing Camellia Sinensis). They are grown widely in China, India, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Japan, etc... but any tea roots have always originated back to China which began some 5000 years ago.

Even though all teas originate from the same plant, it takes on different characteristics depending on where it is grown, elevation, and  how it is prepared (steamed, roasted, smoked, sun-dried, etc...). Also, tea tastes different depending on how your body or mind is feeling that day.

They say there are over 5000 different kinds of teas, and no one can learn them all in their lifetime (unless you were really bored and had a lot of free time!!)...  But don't worry! They can be divided into different categories and our menu is made up simple for beginners to understand and also includes high-grade teas to enjoy for those tea connoisseurs out there (you know who you are).

roji offers basic teas so that you can clearly taste the difference between our selections. We hope to help you in finding the one that best suits your particular preference, for example how you're feeling that day, (tired eyes from long reading, or need a kick in tea, etc...) Once you try everything and your body knows what kind of tea you need, then you know you've stepped up to the tea connoisseur level!
