Local architect Charles Colton designed this building in 1875. The
first issue of the Herald-Jounal newspaper was published here. The
ornate facade is organized symmetrically. Windows with sandstone
lintels are grouped in recessed arches ornamented with fine brickwork.
Brackets support an Intalianate cornice and a cornice above the
storefront. The building was later renovated in 1987.
