Help clean up Syracuse's hidden oasis - Onondaga Creek!
Volunteers are needed to work by both land and “sea” to remove trash from the waters and the banks of the creek.
Saturday, 9/15, 8:30am - Lunch Time - Pizza party to follow!
Bring a canoe!
Boats are always in short supply and are a much-needed component of the
creek clean-up each year. If you are willing to get wet - you can be a
part of the boat-crew that floats down the creek, pulling up bicycles,
shopping carts, tires and more. The canoes are used to transport this
trash to the unloading areas on shore.
Land-Lover?
If you would prefer to keep your feet on the shore, become a member of
the the land-crew. Volunteers working from land help pick up trash
along the stream banks and work to unload trash-filled canoes and carry
the garbage to nearby dumpsters for disposal.
Registration is required.
Call Cornell Cooperative Extension at 424-9485, Ext. 0. Please
indicate if you are able to bring a boat, and whether you have a
preference for the boat-crew or land-crew. Pick-up trucks are also
needed. Sorry, no children under the age of 12.
What to bring: please wear sturdy shoes and work clothes. Gloves, trash bags and bottled water will be provided.
** Be advised that cancellation may occur in the case of rain or high water levels. **
