Downtown Committee of Syracuse Appoints New Director

The Board of Directors of the Downtown Committee of Syracuse has named David A. Mankiewicz as its new executive director. Mankiewicz assumes this role in conjunction with his new responsibilities as a senior vice president of the Metropolitan Development Association of Syracuse and Central New York (MDA).

Mankiewicz succeeds Irwin L. Davis, who has served as the Executive Director since the organization commenced operations in 1976. Mankiewicz becomes just the second person to serve in this position. Mankiewicz joined the Downtown Committee in 1978, most recently serving as deputy director. Mankiewicz is a graduate of St. Lawrence University and holds a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Harvard University.
