Downtown Syracuse has a number of compelling selling points that make it a good place to do business. Downtown Syracuse is centrally located, houses 27,000 employees, is home to a rapidly growing residential population of 2,700, features the Centro Transit Hub, is adjacent to University Hill's 20,000 students and is becoming a center for tourism and convention business. Combined, all of these elements create a growing and vibrant urban center that can support a variety of retailers.

The Downtown Committee's retail recruitment event on Thursday, October 18 showed prospective retailers the retail opportunities that exist in Downtown Syracuse and help them locate a business here. Panel sessions included:
Downtown Retailer Roundtable - What do existing retailers have to say about doing business downtown?
Doing Business in Downtown Syracuse - Who's your market?
Financing & Incentives - What are your options?
Setting Up Shop - What's the process for opening another location and what questions do I ask?
