AmeriCU Syracuse Arts & Crafts Festival Kicks Off as a Virtual Showcase of 180+ Artists; 50th Anniversary will be Celebrated in July 2021

As we look forward to the 50th Anniversary celebration of the AmeriCU Syracuse Arts & Crafts Festival in July 2021, we’re excited to announce the first-ever virtual presentation of the AmeriCU Syracuse Arts & Crafts Festival in July, 2020. The virtual showcase is LIVE now, accessible by cliking here. The festival line-up features seven stunning categories of artwork, highlighting more than 180 of the nation’s most talented artists. In most cases, artwork may be purchased online, directly from the artists’ websites and social media pages. On the virtual website, visitors will find links to contemporary arts and crafts, including ceramics, sculpture, photography, woodwork, jewelry, clothing and much more.

All month long, the Downtown Committee will share promotions from the virtual edition of the show and highlight samples of the artists’ work across its social media platforms. Followers will also find tips about where to find artwork and noteworthy collections throughout Downtown Syracuse. The community is encouraged to stay up-to-date by following the Virtual Syracuse Arts & Crafts Festival Facebook page, as well as the Downtown Committee’s Instagram story - where samples of items available for purchase will be shared daily.

The combination of high-quality artwork that the festival is known for, summer refreshments and entertainment make it a favorite summer tradition for many families. The AmeriCU Syracuse Arts and Crafts Festival is the longest-running festival in Downtown Syracuse.

“While we may not be able to physically be together to celebrate this season, we still want to connect festival attendees and visitors with the artists,” said Merike Treier, Executive Director of the Downtown Committee. “Virtually, we encourage you to browse your favorite artists’ works online, perhaps looking for a gift for a loved one or an opportunity to treat yourself. We also encourage you to explore Downtown’s public art collection, and shop at a variety of our artisan retailers who are ready to welcome you back with new health and safety protocols in place.”

Traditionally, the festival attracts as many as 50,000 people to Downtown Syracuse each year. Considering the anticipated crowds, travel involved for out-of-state artists and current public health guidelines and social distancing practices in place, a decision was made to change the traditional format of the festival to a virtual presentation this July. Maintaining the health and safety of festival attendees, artists, staff and the Syracuse community remains our top priority.

Next year, the festival – tentatively scheduled to run Friday, July 23 through Sunday, July 25 – will celebrate its 50th Anniversary! The Downtown Committee and AmeriCU look forward to the return of the three-day festival, not only to highlight talented artists, craftspeople and entertainers, but also for the opportunities that the festival presents for visitors to experience the vibrancy that Downtown is known for,  through a showcase of visual and performing arts.

The AmeriCU Syracuse Arts & Crafts Festival is recognized as one of the top shows in the country by trade publications.
