The 16th annual serving of Downtown Syracuse Dining Weeks starred 46 locally-owned, high-quality restaurants, serving up lunch specials for $10 (or less) and three-course dinner specials for $30 (or less).  Presented by Visions Federal Credit Union and the Downtown Committee of Syracuse, Inc., Downtown Syracuse Dining Weeks officially ran from February 17 through March 1.

Several restauranteurs saw record turnout, which contributed to their decision(s) to extend the special offerings.

“Downtown Dining Weeks has turned the slowest two weeks of the year into the busiest two weeks of the year,” said Danny Klamm, owner of Prime Steakhouse. In hopes to continue the momentum generated – and recognizing that members of the community may not be as eager to go out to dinner after last week’s drop in the Dow Jones - Klamm made the unique decision to extend Prime’s three-course for $30 offering until the Stock Market returns to normal.

Kyle Mastropietro, Chef/Owner at Kasai Ramen and Phil Kelly, Owner of The Fish Friar were also pleased with the success of Downtown Dining Weeks.

“We were extremely busy – especially during the first week,” said Mastropietro. “Dining Weeks has been great!”

“Because it was so successful, we are planning to continue our $10 lunch special through the end of Lent,” said Kelly.

Diners are encouraged to continue to “Spot the Chef’s Hat” as they enjoy an extended version of Downtown Dining Weeks at select restaurants.  Each participating Downtown Dining Weeks restaurant has one chef’s hat placed somewhere in its dining area. When visitors see the chef’s hat, if they take a picture of it, and email the picture – or a thorough description of where they saw it - to, they’ll be entered into multiple drawings for gift cards to Downtown restaurants. Winners will be notified through email. There is still more than $500 in gift card winnings available!

Downtown Syracuse Dining Weeks receives additional support from Eleven Waters and Shaughnessy’s Irish Pub, as well as Citronelle, Lemon Grass, Bistro Èlèphant Steakhouse, Oh My Darling, and Prime Steakhouse.
