Downtown Committee and Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop Present a Free Downtown Coffee Break During Employee Appreciation Month
Tuesday, September 15, 2015
Syracuse, NY – Two Downtown organizations, the Downtown Committee of Syracuse, Inc. and Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop, will partner to host an exciting event to thank employees who work in Downtown Syracuse. On Thursday, September 24, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, everyone who works Downtown is invited to step away from their office space and treat themselves to free coffee and snacks during the first-ever Downtown Syracuse Coffee Break. Tim Hortons will be brewing free coffee, and serving snacks and samples of their new handcrafted sandwiches for Downtown employees in Perseverance Park (map), located at the corner of West Fayette and South Salina Streets. In the event of rain, the event will take place indoors, at 320 South Salina Street (map).
The Downtown Coffee Break idea was brewed to coincide with the Downtown Committee’s Employee Appreciation Month, as the Downtown Committee continues to spotlight monthly themes related to Downtown’s accomplishments and continued growth as part of its 40th Anniversary Celebration. This September, the focus is on the 27,000+ employees who work in Downtown Syracuse, the people who give Downtown its heartbeat.
“We appreciate the pride our employees take in their jobs, and their commitment to Downtown Syracuse,” said Merike Treier, executive director of the Downtown Committee. “In making Downtown their workplace home, our employees enhance vibrancy and foster a strong sense of community. We wanted to do something extra special as a way to say ‘Thank you,’ and we’re very grateful to have our neighbor, Tim Hortons, presenting this exciting event!”
Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop has been a part of the Downtown community since December, 2013, located within the Pike Block at the corner of West Fayette and South Salina Streets (map), right below the Downtown Committee, CenterState CEO and Visit Syracuse Offices. As presenting sponsor of the Downtown Coffee Break, Tim Hortons is donating hot coffees in medium sizes - including decaf, dark roast and regular – as well as a favorite seasonal beverage, Caramel Apple Cider Supreme. Tim Hortons will also be sampling its current Harvest Menu, including Pumpkin Muffins with Cream Cheese Frosting, Pumpkin Glazed Donuts and Apple Pie Fritter Donuts, in addition to its new handcrafted sandwiches. Guests of the Downtown Coffee Break are also invited to participate in games, pose for photographs with life-size Instagram picture frames, and enter to win a basket of Tim Hortons products.
“Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop is thrilled to present this fantastic event,” said Anthony McEachern, Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop restaurant owner. “We are incredibly grateful to the many Downtown Syracuse employees who visit our restaurants every day. It is truly an honor to be able to serve the Downtown Syracuse community every day.”
The Downtown Coffee Break holds additional significance in that it will be held in Perseverance Park - and the former Common Center Plaza, now called “Flowscape” – which will soon see a new design. In March, a jury selected New York City-based landscape architecture firm, !melk to redesign the urban space. The organization is in town through Saturday, September 26 to collect input and ideas from various downtown stakeholders, as it begins to craft a new vision for the space.
The community is invited to join the conversation by “liking” Tim Hortons Cafe & Bake Shop on Facebook (Tim Hortons), and following the Downtown Committee on Facebook (Downtown Syracuse), Twitter (@downtownSYR) and Instagram (downtownsyracuse).
