Leap Year Extends Renzi Foodservice Downtown Dining Weeks to 15 Days
Monday, February 1, 2016
Syracuse, NY – To the delight of foodies and dining enthusiasts throughout Central New York, the 12th annual serving of Downtown Syracuse Dining Weeks returns in two weeks. The most popular winter dining event in Syracuse begins President’s Day, Monday, February 15, and continues through Monday, February 29. This year, a record 29 restaurants will serve three courses for $25 or less (please find a complete list of participating restaurants below, and by clicking here). Of the participating restaurants, eight are new to the promotion this year.
For the second consecutive year, the Downtown Committee of Syracuse, Inc. is partnering with Renzi Foodservice to present Renzi Foodservice Downtown Syracuse Dining Weeks. The event, which started in 2005 as a way to drum up business for downtown restaurants during what is traditionally a slow time of year for dining, has grown every year since, continuing to draw new restaurants and more diners. In fact, the once-a-year promotion became so popular that it expanded to two weeks in 2009. Last year, several restaurants decided to extend their Dining Weeks menus for a third week through the first week in March.
New this year, a chef’s hat will be placed somewhere visible in the dining area(s) of participating restaurants. Diners are encouraged to spot the chef’s hat, take a picture of it, and email the picture – or a thorough description - to email@example.com, explaining where and in what restaurant they saw the chef’s hat. All correct guesses will be entered into multiple drawings held throughout Dining Weeks. Winners will be notified through email. They will receive a gift card/gift certificate redeemable at one of the participating restaurants.
Also new this year, four parking areas will offer discounted rates during Renzi Downtown Syracuse Dining Weeks. From Sundays through Thursdays, guests may park at the Atrium Garage (map), Clinton Street Garage (map), the parking lot at Fayette and Walton Streets (map) and the parking lot at Fayette and Clinton Streets (map) for $5 starting at 5:00 pm. These parking facilities are managed by Syracuse Parking. Parking is normally $8-10 during this time period.
“Renzi Foodservice is proud to sponsor Downtown Syracuse Dining Weeks for the second consecutive year,” said Lisa Renzi Lazore, Renzi Foodservice regional sales manager. “As one of the largest family-owned and operated broad-line food distribution companies in Central New York, our commitment for unsurpassed customer service through our team approach model is the cornerstone of our “Delivering the Difference” philosophy. “Dining Weeks provides a great opportunity to sample the unique, unparalleled cuisine of Downtown Syracuse,” said Merike Treier, Downtown Committee of Syracuse executive director. “Like many diners in the community, we look forward to this event every year! Whether you’re trying a new restaurant for the first time, or returning to a favorite, we hope you’ll pick an evening – or a few! - to enjoy dinner downtown. Bring your family, or your friends! It’s also a great excuse to catch up and unwind with your coworkers.”
