Funding Opportunity: Cooperative Marketing Program & "Downtown is Open For Business" Campaign

Two new marketing opportunities will help Downtown Syracuse this spring, made possible through a grant from the Syracuse Economic Development Corporation (SEDCO). The Downtown Syracuse Foundation received $20,000 through a SEDCO COVID-19 relief grant funded by the federal CARES Act. The Downtown Syracuse Foundation is applying these funds to two opportunities to directly support Downtown Syracuse businesses:

Cooperative Marketing Program: Businesses located throughout the 82 blocks that comprise Downtown Syracuse are invited to partner with other City of Syracuse businesses to host an event or special promotion designed to drive visitors into Downtown Syracuse. Each business collaboration is eligible to win $500 in paid marketing services provided by the Downtown Syracuse Foundation. Applications opened Monday, April 19, and businesses may apply through Thursday, May 6. Physical copies may be mailed upon request. Applications must be submitted to Laurie Reed, Marketing Director of the Downtown Committee (LReed@DowntownSyracuse.com), by Thursday, May 6 at 3:00 pm.

New Info: CNY Latino will offer a 40% discount on ads (placed within its publication) that are tied to this promotion, helping to better connect our LatinX community with area businesses.

"Downtown is Open For Business" Campaign: To provide visual cues that Downtown Syracuse is open for business, every street-level Downtown Syracuse business that wants a "Downtown is Open" flag may order one, free of charge. The festive flags will be available in six different colors and will be customized with the logo of each business. The flags will be installed in May 2021. Together, they will showcase all of the businesses that have reopened during the pandemic, and create a celebratory streetscape. Funding provided by SEDCO will cover the cost of each flag and installation. Interested businesses should reach out to Heather Schroeder, Director of the Downtown Committee's Economic Development program via phone (315-470-1958) or email (HSchroeder@DowntownSyracuse.com).
